Genesis Chapter 1

 

1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하셨습니다.
2. The earth was empty and dark, covered with deep water and God's Spirit moved over the water. 그때 땅은 아무 형상도 없이 텅 비어 있었고, 심연은 어둠으로 가득 차 있었으며 하나님의 영은 물 위를 움직이고 계셨습니다.
3. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 그 때 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "빛이 생기게 하라" 하시자 빛이 나타났습니다.
4. God saw that the light was good, so he separated light from darkness. 하나님이 보시기에 그 빛이 좋았고, 그러므로 하나님이 빛과 어둠을 나누셨습니다.
5. God named the light "day" and the darkness "night." Evening came, then morning—this was the first day. 하나님이 그 빛을 "낮", 어둠을 "밤"이라고 이름 붙이셨습니다. 그렇게 해가 지나고 날이 밝아오면서 첫째 날이 되었습니다.
6. Then God said, "Let there be a space between the waters, to separate water from water." 이어 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "물과 물 사이에 공간을 만들어 물을 분리하게 하라" 하셨습니다.
7. And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the water above from the water below. 그리하여 그런대로 이루어졌습니다. 하나님께서는 하늘 물과 땅 물을 분리하심으로써 그 공간을 만들어내셨습니다.
8. God named the space "sky." Evening came, then morning—this was the second day. 하나님이 그 공간을 "하늘"이라 이름 붙이셨습니다. 그렇게 해가 지나고 날이 밝아오면서 둘째 날이 되었습니다.
9. Then God said, "Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear." 이어 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "하늘 아래 물이 한 곳으로 모이고, 뭍이 드러나게 하라" 하셨습니다.
10. And that is what happened. God named the dry ground "land" and the waters "seas." And God saw that it was good. 그리하여 그런대로 이루어졌습니다. 하나님께서는 그 드러난 뭍을 "땅"이라 이름 붙이셨고, 모여든 물을 "바다"라 이름 붙이셨습니다. 하나님이 보시기에 그것이 좋았습니다.
11. Then God said, "Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came." And that is what happened. 그 다음 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "땅은 씨가 있는 식물과 종자를 가진 나무로 가득 차라. 그 씨와 종자가 그것의 종류를 낳게 하라" 하셨습니다. 그리하여 그런대로 이루어졌습니다.
12. The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. 땅이 씨가 있는 식물과 종자를 가진 나무로 가득 차니, 그것의 종자가 그것의 종류를 낳았습니다. 하나님이 보시기에 그것이 좋았습니다.
13. Evening came, then morning—this was the third day. 그렇게 해가 지나고 날이 밝아오면서 셋째 날이 되었습니다.
14. Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. 그 후 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "하늘에 빛들이 나타나서 낮과 밤을 나누게 하며 기운과 시간과 해를 표시하라.
15. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth." And that is what happened. 그리고 그 빛들이 땅에 비치도록 하라" 하셨습니다. 그리하여 그런대로 이루어졌습니다.
16. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. 하나님께서는 큰 빛들을 만드시고, 하나는 낮을 주관하게 하시고, 하나는 밤을 주관하게 하셨습니다. 또 별들도 만드셨습니다.
17. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth.하나님께서는 이 빛들을 땅에 비치도록 하셨습니다. 
18. To govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 낮과 밤을 주관하게 하시고, 빛과 어둠을 분리하셨습니다. 하나님이 보시기에 그것이 좋았습니다.
19. Evening came, then morning—this was the fourth day. 그리하여 그런대로 이루어졌습니다. 넷째날이었습니다.
20. Then God said, "Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind." 그 때 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "물들이 생물들로 넘쳐나게 하고, 하늘에는 각종 새들로 가득 차게 하라." 하셨습니다.
21. So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. 그러므로 하나님께서는 큰 바다 생물과 물속에서 움직이며 번식하는 모든 생물, 그리고 각종 새를 창조하셨습니다. 각각은 그 종류별로 자손을 낳았습니다. 하나님이 보시기에 그것이 좋았습니다.
22. Then God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." 그 후 하나님이 그것들을 축복하시며 말씀하셨습니다. "번성하고 늘어나라. 물고기로 바다에 가득 차게 하고, 새들로 땅 위에 번성하게 하라." 하셨습니다.
23. Evening came, then morning—this was the fifth day. 그래서 해가 지나고 날이 밝아오면서 다섯째 날이 되었습니다.
24. Then God said, "Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals." And that is what happened. 그리고 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "땅에 각종 동물들이 생겨나게 하라. 각 생물은 그 종류별로 자손을 낳게 하라. 가축과 땅 위를 기어다니는 작은 동물, 그리고 야생 동물을 창조하라." 하셨습니다. 그리하여 그런대로 되었습니다.
25. God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. 하나님께서는 각종 야생 동물과 가축, 작은 동물들을 만드셨습니다. 각각은 그 종류별로 자손을 낳을 수 있었습니다. 하나님이 보시기에 그것이 좋았습니다.
26. Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like ourselves. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground." 그리고 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "우리의 형상대로 사람을 만들어 우리와 같이 하게 하자. 그들이 바다의 물고기, 하늘의 새, 가축, 땅의 모든 야생 동물, 그리고 땅 위를 기어다니는 모든 작은 동물들을 다스리게 하라." 하셨습니다.
27. So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them. 그래서 하나님께서는 사람을 자신의 형상대로 창조하셨습니다. 하나님의 형상대로 그들을 창조하셨습니다. 남자와 여자로 그들을 창조하셨습니다.
28. Then God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground." 그리고 하나님이 그들을 축복하시고 말씀하셨습니다. "번성하고 늘어나라. 땅에 가득 차고 그것을 다스리라. 바다의 물고기와 하늘의 새, 그리고 땅 위를 기어다니는 모든 동물을 다스리라." 하셨습니다.
29. Then God said, "Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 그리고 하나님이 말씀하시며 이르시기를 "보라, 땅의 모든 씨 맺는 식물과 그것의 씨를 갖고 있는 모든 열매 나무를 너희에게 주었다. 그것이 너희의 식량이 되리라.
30. And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life." And that is what happened. 그리고 땅의 모든 푸른 식물을 너희에게 주어 모든 생명들, 곧 하늘의 새와 땅 위를 기어다니는 작은 동물들, 그 모든 것들이 먹을 것이 되게 하였다." 하셨습니다. 그리하여 그런대로 되었습니다.
31. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day. 그리고 하나님이 그가 만드신 모든 것을 살펴보시니, 그것이 심히 좋다 하셨습니다! 그리고 해와 날이 지나고 여섯째 날이 되었습니다.
